I love the story of this novel, the insight into day to day domestic life in Afghanistan and the narrative through the eyes of an eleven year old Afghani boy.
However, the poor English is beginning to annoy me and interrupts the flow of the narrative. "I was stood close to him, ...he was sat," etc. Such a shame the editor - if there was one, didn't do his/her job.
I appreciate it is a 2009 publication and Andrea Busfield may have developed her style since, but poor English really detracts from good, imaginative writing.
