It is indeed a great book. The detailed narrative, the emotional connection it forms between the characters and readers, the way it teaches patience and perseverance. For all of it, it really had a impact on me. Lucky I read it whole. Just two things which seemed off to me were the intercalary chapters which are totally descriptive, plus the ending, which was hard to swallow. But now that I look at it, everything comes down a full circle. It feels whole. The book was a wholesome experience and ofcourse a good way to feel The Great Depression up-close.
