Willow is one of my favorite movies. It’s a shame this show is a blithering, meandering pile of garbage. Tweens may care for this drippy, poorly plotted mess, but the all the charm and naïveté of the original is forsaken for childish brooding and poor character development. If the target audience was 8-12 year olds, they nailed it. Otherwise, I must not “get it.”
It very much feels like someone dropped this group of Gen-Z kids in this fantasy world, took their phones, and told them to play along. The little girl from Obi-Wan Kenobi acts circles around these tweens. At least she was delivering a performance. These kids are clearly just phoning it in for a paycheck. If you hated/couldn’t get through Netflix’s Shadow and Bone, you’ll be sure to hate this too.
Bottom line. Hard. Pass.
