I found this book to be particularly boring and I can't honestly see it holding the attention of children if I found it to be monotonous.
The central plot of learning to welcome and understand those who have different background and experiences to ourselves can surely be put across to children without the need for a lengthy story that has only received such glowing reviews due to the current political climate regarding immigrants / refugees.
If they can come to such realisations with a book, they can reach the same understanding through group work and conversation about empathy.
