I very much enjoyed this movie! I wasn’t originally going on Netflix to watch it, but the preview played and I was drawn to it… probably because of Leighton Meester, whom I love. (She did a fantastic job btw).
I continued to enjoy it because there was plot twist upon plot twist. I’ve already read reviews by those who complain that the outcome was predictable… My rebuttal is that there is a limited cast of about 10 main characters—of course it’s only natural to predict one of them had something to do with “it.” (Excuse the vagueness; I’m trying not to spoil too much). For that matter, I suspected that EVERY person did it at some point in the movie. Unless they wanted to chalk it up to a total stranger committing the wrongdoing, one can only expect so much.
I will admit certain aspects may be predictable. To someone who watches thrillers frequently, this one might be a bit underwhelming or “overdone.” I’m not in that category, so that wasn’t my experience. Even if one could guess the antagonist from the first act, it doesn’t detract from the movie as a whole sucking you into a trance.
I’m looking forward to rewatching it! Watches much like a murder mystery. I already recommended it to some friends.
P.S. I am just now finding out about the actor, Ziad Bakri… what a cutie. ;)
