A true great western. Sergio Leone had a knack for creating American westerns which were grittier, more relative toward the hardliving western life, and which contained extremely interesting characters. This film is no exception. Stellar cast of Fonda, Bronson, Robards, and Cardinale, excellent storyline(although some structure borrowed from Leone's Good, Bad, and Ugly, this story is unique), ominous atmospherics, every sight and sound accented, as each character advances through this tale to confront one another. Explosive action, naturally. One of my favorite westerns. 5 stars.
