Just a mess. Not sure what Rian thought he was doing. Obviously he forgot he was dealing with already established characters, considering he was swapping around character motivations, undoing previous character arcs, and filling the story with plot holes. It’s not a bad movie in theory. If it wasn’t called Star Wars it would have something going for it, but it needed to fulfill its role in the trilogy and just bombed. Plus, I’ve never really watched a movie that actively felt like it hated the old fans, either.
