For people of color it portrays a binary that you are either with the good or bad, the in between are women of color who are always in need of help. I don’t usually go to Hollywood for my insight into sociocultural issues in the United States for this reason. That being said, I can only say this movie ends sad and is filled with violence and hypermasculinity/patriarchy. If by chance this is any bit reflective of a law enforcement reality today in America, no wonder why we are dealing with the race, gender, and class issues we are experiencing today in America. While race is not implicated blatantly, it is done so in subtle form. Gender constructs and violence is blatant. If this is a movie that is not a social commentary, and suppose to be entertaining, then once more, no wonder why the United States is in the situation it is today.
