All in all its a good game with good graphics and I personally havent experienced many bugs. It takes a minute to learn the controls but its pretty straight forward. I only ever do treasure hunts, maybe a shrine, but thats mostly cuz I usually play solo in a tiny ship.
HOWEVER: The pvp kills it for me. There is almost always 1-2 four Player crews in these huge Galleon ships online that will spot you in the distance and drop everything they are doing so they can proceed to chase you down mercilessly, even if you're a 1-man little Sloop with nothing on board. NOT EVEN CAPTAINED.
There is a note at each and every outpost stating basic community guidelines, 1 of them is to not fire on ships unless they are at sea. Do these players honor this? NO. You can be afk at port and get you and your ship shot down JUST BECAUSE.
Its dominated by toxic players and it ruins the appeal. Nobody wants to login repeatedly jumping between servers, sticking to 1 that seems safe, and then getting jumped as soon as they reach an outpost, respawning with a new ship, just to get hunted by the same crew in 5 minutes. Thats not enough time for anyone to make progress, financially or reputation-wise.
Custom servers would 100% fix this issue but will that ever happen? Doubtful. Atleast give us the choice and ability to play Pvp free, sheesh
