This book was an absolute joy to read. I've read it a few times when I was a kid, mind you at the time I was 6 or 7, but the complicated words in Dutch didn't stop me. I was so immersed in the story and I loved the protagonist. I became a major fan of this book and it's a pity I didn't see the animated series was a thing until now. I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY RRREEEAAALLLYYY recommend giving it a read because it's by far the best book I've ever read. Recently re-read it (three times because it was too good) and my god, my mind was blown. Honestly the storytelling is soooo good, it's literally amazing. Enough fangirling over it though. Let me tell you some of why I'm in love. First of all, it's so descriptive and tells you every last detail of every scene. Sometimes you get such complicated details you forget you're supposed to be reading. Another thing I love, the drawings. The drawings are all made by Anton Pieck, if I remember correctly, and you should totally check his art out. The level of detail in his drawings is similar to AI generated art images, I noticed. Of course they're not though, those were made in like 1998. Aaanyways, on with the stuff, uh. Some other things I really really really like are the side characters and how much detail and personality is put into them. Also, the way the protagonist's view cuts off at the end of a chapter and continues with a brand new side character's view is refreshing. Yes, refreshing is the best word for describing this book. It's great to take a break from all the modern content and series, because, well, this book is literally a 300-page fairy tale. I think I should end it here. Hi. Anyone reading this? Uhm. Bye.
