I loved some of the reviews of this book. People frustrated with the way it was written. No answers, unclear conclusions. Almost as if the writer perfectly captured the emotions and uncertainty of a civil war with no clear enemy and unending fear. I have never lived through a war, let alone one like happened in Sri Lanka for years, but the author captures in this work of fiction the essence of this tragedy. It's as if you get the chance to walk through Sri Lankas civil war never knowing the full truth, leaving the story as uncertain as when you entered. Not sure what to believe or who to trust, not receiving a single answer to any of the questions that arose. I feel as if I have experienced a fragment of what millions of people did for over a decade. This is one of those books that can fill you with a certain level of empathy and leave you pondering human nature and the purpose of life. A true masterpiece in every sense of the word.
