I did not have high expectation and somehow the movie still managed to disappoint. To make up for a weak story line, the movie takes iconic scenes from the original Matrix and pointlessly duplicates them in this movie.
The most interesting scenes are the ones in which the therapist tries to keep Neo inside the Matrix. Unfortunately, they only lasted a couple of minutes out of a two-hour long movie. Everything else is forgettable. I wish that the movie would have explored the ties that keep one in the Matrix. What are the circumstances in which one continues to take the blue pill every day? What are the circumstances where one is willing to take the red pill, forfeit everything they know and change their life?
In prior movies the Trinity was fierce, but in this movie she was relegated to the role of a prop. The original Trinity, young or old, would never allow herself to be relegated to a supporting actor in her own life. Her motivation for taking the red pill: she did not like her name inside the matrix. (!!!) Oh, pleeeze.
