As a whole, the game is great. Its chocked full of content, from unlockables to mini quests to the actual campaigns themselves.
Gameplay itself is very good. It all mostly plays out like all the previous Lego Star Wars games, except for the revamped shooting mechanic, which I'm enjoying more than the old one. I do miss being able to create a custom Lego character, however.
Theres a few bugs on the Switch version. The opening cutscene sometimes wont skip even when the button is held down as shown on screen, and when entering a new Episode the opening crawl sometimes doesnt appear, so youre left staring at a sky of stars.
But theres many times throughout the story that im reminded that this is, ultimately, a game aimed at younger audiences. Many powerful and emotional moments from the movies are watered down to cater to children. Episode III suffers from this the most, with the attack on the Jedi Temple entirely removed from the gameplay, and Obi-Wan and Vader's climatic duel loses almost all impact.
Objectively, as a Star Wars fan this game misses a few key marks. Some epic fight scenes are unplayable, and powerful moments lose their meaning when tailored for children. But as a game, it still gave me many hours of entertainment and enjoyment.
