‘50s and ‘60s sci-fi films are almost always modest, fun, and easy to like - for children and adults. Mountain Monsters is a truly enjoyable dig into the same trashy goldmine. The concept: a bunch of hardy men from around the Appalachians uncover modern-day stories of legendary beasts - creatures that remain conveniently out of view (save for blurry pics or vague thermal scans).
Just when the group find the crucial evidence, it gets dark, or one (or several) of the crew get knee problems, or they get lost. Despite it all, the men are always upbeat, energetic, and ready to believe the preposterous. Some of their journeys occur in the daytime, but their best results happen at night, when this bunch of ill-prepared men foray into thick brush, carrying guns.
The men themselves are heavily bearded and good-humored, making Mountain Monsters truly entertaining.
