A mixture of political agenda and poor writing using race as a defence mechanism to defelect any legitimate critism. Its filled with too much allegory which Tolkien took negativity towards. $60 million an episode I expected there to be much more soul and love but its lacking in so many ways, including extremely poor costumes and armour. They Failed in the very thing they wanted to create - Every region lacks identity because every region has a mix of races from the get go, which defeats the whole purpose of why lord of the rings worked - races from the corners of the middleearth who don't particularly like each other banding together to defeat a common enemy. Which is hilarious because this was the creators main theme 'identity' And by the way 'Game of Thrones' excelled at this, we knew instantly what race and region a person was from by just one look. The elves are hugley underwhelming and look like humans with their modern day looks and not looking like ethereal 6ft + beings who are superior to men in almost everything possible. Then we have Galadriel who somehow they messed up even with a huge template that was already made by Tolkien and Peter Jackson's versions, She is disgusting as a character, no care for life and is super obnoxious to anyone and everyone, A huge superiority complex, too much plot armour and no real danger. They can't even use the name Annatar for sauron because they don't have the rights to the source material... so they have to make up a new character cough* Halbrand. They fired the only knowledgable Tolkien expert (Tom shippey) because he straight up told them this was a disaster. I feel bad for the CGI teams who are constantly let down by these issues in modern TV and Film. The only way to enjoy this is if you are a casual watcher who knows little about Tolkiens works, But even then the dialogue is constantly trailer like lines with no depth. go watch 'The critical drinkers' video about the rings of power where he perfectly breaks down the series. I have never supported 'bad guys' more in my life, somehow a bad character shows more compassion to their followers than galadriel does with hers... They really missed the mark on this, what a let down.
