The music has stood the test of time and it would take the hardest of critics to deny that. The film is amazing as it’s both sad and uplifting at the same time. A number of friends who are die hard Queen fans aren’t happy with the inaccuracies but it is not a documentary so have to accept that. I was in my teens and 20s during the 1970-1980 period and I loathed the band but liked the music. There was so much racism at the time and I used to feel so much anger that Freddie never stood up and said he was proud of his roots as it would have meant so much to our generation. However as you get older you appreciate that Freddie suffered both racism and homophobia so it’s hardly a surprise he tried to hide this from the public.
In summary a superb watch, great music, sad, funny and uplifting. Not many films achieve that.
