This beautifully written novel tells the story of Annie, a young woman determined to become a doctor and the things standing in her way of accomplishing that goal: among them her relationship with alcohol.
The author takes us along on Annie’s multifaceted journey to control her drinking and to build a meaningful life with people who matter, and even people who haven’t mattered in the past.
The book is compelling and the characters vividly drawn, as is the atmosphere of the Bay Area of San Francisco.
I believe all readers, in some way, can relate to Annie’s story and will find themselves rooting for her the whole way.
