It's-a mediocre, Mario. Opening day of the movie. The two leads were miscast. The rest of the cast was good but had little to work with. The noise in the audience full of parents and children barely rose about a slight individual chuckle because none of the jokes landed. The plot was full of every trope you've ever seen. The pop song choices, while good songs, were uninspired and predictable but the game music woven into the movie was nice. The animation was very vibrant and pretty though.

Mads was awesome and should have been Grindlewald from the start or kept Colin Farrell, who was also very good in the first one. The whole cast is great and story has an interesting premise. However, they should have let Newt Scamander be his own cool branch of HP for kids and had the story of Grindelwald and the first Wizarding war as a separate, more adult cool HP branch. In trying to appeal to everyone from kids to adults to elderly, they made a huge boring mess that appeals to no one. And that's a shame because both branches could have been classics.

If you have never seen any movie ever than you might find this funny. I, having seen many movies on my lifetime, thought it was lame and predictable.
