The very dentition of Mid TV. I felt no chemistry between most of the characters, who seemed two dimensional at best. It felt like a Lifetime movie with higher production value, similar to the recent film adaptation of It Ends with Us. This might have worked better as a two-hour film. I haven’t read the book, and honestly could only get through one-half of one book by Elin Hilderbrand, so I’m probably not the demo for this movie. (I love beach reads and chick lit in general, but don’t find her engaging.) Again, not having read the book, I figured out who the killer was by the second episode.
