This movie is a peak example of toxic masculinity. The story is framed around Billy the Kid and his gang attempting to avenge their previous employer from Murphy and the ring. However, the character Billy exhibits textbook psychopathic behavior beyond the typical culture of the Old West, and frames it as heroic. The other gang members follow him despite their better judgement. Billy ultimately leads his “pals” into a bloodbath and he himself gets shot and still lives with no consequences? There were a lot of moments between the other characters showing how they felt about Billy’s actions and how it was affecting them. I was just waiting for some kind of intervention and maybe Billy would see the error of his ways and do the right thing - but no. To be honest, two stars is a bit too generous, but the acting was good, and so was the production design. That was about it. Definitely not worth watching for almost 2 hours.
