Wow. That's all I can say. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was my absolue favorite movie as a kid and Willy Wonka has always held a special place in my heart. The new movie was funny, heartfelt, and sweet and it truly captured the spirit of the original film. I thought that Timothee did a fantastic job portraying the quirky, quintessential Mr. Woka himself, and I adored his origin story. The music was fun and catchy and the whole movie was like a giant, glittering tribute to chocolate itself. The sets and special effects were incredible, and I thought that the candy shop scene with the giant tree was so clever and fun. I felt like a (pun intended) kid in a candy store! All of the cast did an incredible job and I loved how some of the original characters such as Slugworth and the Oompa Loompas made appearances. The ending was so heartwarming and (I'll be honest with you) I bawled my eyes out when Timothee sang "Pure Imagination". What a lovely tribute to Gene Wilder and the original movie. The ending was so satisfying and I loved, loved, LOVED, the origin of the famous Golden Ticket. After we left the theater, I felt like singing in the middle of the street and throwing candy to people. This movie truly made me feel like a kid again. I hope that anyone who watches it feels the true happiness and imagination that this film encapsulates. HATS OFF THE THE FILMMAKERS! AMAZING JOB! 👏🍫🎩
