This is the longest I have taken to read a book and the only book I finished considering the amount of time I took to read it. I think I couldn't handle too much at the same time, it was more like coming to terms with so much of darkness we all decided to ignore. I know I am not an African American, being a dark skinned Indian girl, I have definitely felt less desirable when I was younger. I was educated and realised early in life that it's just another skintone and I shouldn't matter as much as it does around here. After reading the book, it just opened my eyes to the fact that all of this is more deep rooted than I had ever thought. We were oppressed for hundreds of years and it's the bitter truth.
Truly inspiring, I am a bigger viola davis fan now than when I became one after watching HTGAWM.
