Kareen Tariman

Beautiful movie. I kept thinking about it long after I exited the cinema. I came in with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised at the story. It started dark but the upbeat tone and the smart story-telling (nothing is ever spoon-fed) kept me interested and carried me through to the ending. A little suspension of belief is required. That seems to be a given since this is an animated film, so this is a little weird note. However, props to the movie for pulling me in so completely to the Tokyo it created that when things turned surreal I was jarred a bit and strongly reminded that this was animated. Bravo!
