It boggles the mind that no one has mentioned how the scenes of Emily and Branwell going window-peeping echo the scene of Olivier and Oberon in the 1939 movie peeping through windows of the Linton's manor house. I also caught echoes of some of the dialogue of that movie in "Emily".
