This morning, initial comments from the panel, were about the plight of the 800,000 Federal workers who are working without payment or "laid off" without pay, and the president's compliance with Speaker Pelosi's withdrawal of invitation to give the State of the Union Speech. The question in the air: 'what's to be done?'
Poor Megan McCain reacted by sadly demanding that the Democratic Party work with the Republicans to get the employees back on payroll. When the answer was to state the substance of Democratic proposals for "all-but-a-wall," she began to complain loudly (interrupting persistently as is her style) that every day is to, "stand the Republican up and throw tomatoes..."
Guys, guys, guys! Megan is making an example of the consistent image of confused 30-somethings who hear the emphatic debate ( including resistance to GOP personnel in the White House and in Senate leadership ) as personal attack on them. It's not that you're "bad"! The political debate, including social issues, is one of ideas!
Something has to give --- please! Endless interruption must stop! Whining personal defensiveness is Not OK !!
I've had it with her declaring her upbringing in the Roman Catholic Church as reason enough to insist that abortion shouldn't be legal ( and also to declare that childbirth terrifies her, talk of sex disgusts her, and she won't have a child. )
You, producers, thereby foster the impression for us - the women who watch, and buy the bargains, that hers is the majority position of Republican women.
Please understand this senior citizen's impression: Sonny is also voluble about her upbringing as a Roman Catholic. And - legal education notwithstanding - her belief that safe, abortion should be illegal. Note: neither of them is old enough to remember the lives of women when medically safe abortion was illegal !!!!
