This is an extraordinary movie. It’s like something made by Wes Anderson in partnership with Jeunet et Caro (Delicatessen and City of Lost Children), with some influence from HR Giger and after reading a diet of Henry Miller and Anaïs Nin.
Don’t go and complain about the sex - you know it’s coming, admit it. Don’t go to be titillated - it will work, but you’d be better off waiting for it to stream if that’s all that interests you.
In the end it’s a tale of emancipation, of women, of the poor. The cinematography is fantastically inventive and the acting is spot on.
