If you've lived in the LA area you might have come to find that most of the donuts shops (until very recently) are 'mom&pop' owned/operated by Cambodian immigrant families -- this is not a stereotype! It actually started from one guy who had a dream and shared that dream with relatives and fellow Cambodian immigrant families to help them escape poverty after fleeing violence and oppression in their former home country. They also accomplished a rare feat in the modern cookie-cutter, multinational corporate-dominated world, staving off competition from large faceless corporations for decades. I watched this documentary and really learned a lot about AAPI hardships as well as their contributions to communities across the nation.
