To the “homely” vs “homey” people: I don’t know how you managed to miss the fact that this is a *British* show, and “homely” means home-like or cosy; “homey” is not an English word, even if it’s used in the US.
The format of this show is ok, but I hate that it forces the “designers” into 90s Changing Rooms kitschy/gimmicky makeovers, rather than elevated, well-executed redesigns. These are peoples’ homes, and pretty much every design I’ve seen so far is just not good enough to warrant being paid for. Hopefully the production budget included a re-do by professionals after filming! What they did to 17th century buildings (not far from me) was sacrilegious 🤦🏽♀️
Agree with someone else that it’s really odd seeing designers crafting bits of tut out of bric-a-brac (what on earth does that prove; that they’re not product designers?!) and having to physically build the rooms. If I paid a designer I wouldn’t expect them to double as a painter-decorator or fabricator?!
Bizarre. Your Home Made Perfect is much better, especially watching Laura beat Robert every episode 😂
