Spaceman on Earth

Watch this anime with the attitude of visiting a museum, not a themepark. You really should not watch this anime expecting any kind of story, action, format, etc. Not to say these elements are not a part of the anime, but you really should watch this with blank mind, without any solid expectations. I watched this anime while expecting good sci-fi philosphical Drama, action, relatable and likable characters and their developements with each other, and a satisfying story with strong conclusion, especially after reading comments on internet about this anime and watching the famous Cruel Angels Thesis opening song, with its upbeat, hopeful music and lyrics. In a way, the anime delievered on all of my expectations, but I was dissapointed that It wasn't what I thought it was going to be. You are basically studying an iconic historical piece of media while watching this anime.

Average if I'm to give it a rating, but I liked it anyway. It felt like I was listening to a folktale. Sure the plot is a mess, the mcguffin "rice" is lame, the charecter developement is okay-ish, but thats exactly how the folktales are, poorly explained, huge emphasis on moral teachings and ironically, use of morally ambigious characters to teach them. Since you are stuck at home thanks to Covid 19, might as well give it a watch.

I liked the prosthetic legs of the yellow coat man.
