It has very great cinematography and costume designs. Unfortunately, the series suffered from bad writing which is apparent from the frist few episodes to the end. If you dont mind a somewhat nonsensical storyline and just want to immerse yourself in a detailed fantasy world not shaped by europe's medieval themes, this series is one for you. I really like attention to details production team gave to architectural design, cities and costumes. Had they hired a great scriptwriter, this series would have seen a phenomenal success.
Lead characters' arcs come across as sympathy-baiting and more often than not does not clearly explain why they did what they did. The plot also heavily depends upon 'friendship' bond among the three leads; however the friendhood writers wanted to shove onto the audience's throats feels forced and rigid; One simply and really cannot appreciate how the three came to become best friends. Since the very foundation of fraternity was not done exquisitely, every other subplots based upon it becomes cringy and cheesy at worst, tolerable and passable at best.
I watched the drama only because my idol Liu Hao Ran is in it; saying I was sorely disappointed with the series is a gross understatement. Moreover, an actor as talened as Liu Hao Ran deserves a drama series which can take him to greater heights of publicity and fame. The end of the series gives me nothing but a mountain of frastruation at the possibility of Liu Hao Ran not being able to sustain his popularity as new younger actors continuously enter the industry.
