When I heard about a new show revolving around chess, I got excited because I've always enjoyed every chess-related show/movie I've seen. Every time I thought the show was going to do something interesting, it just driveled on like there were no real challenges or details to add to the story. This is the first time I can say I've regretted watching something about chess, and have never been so disappointed in the lack of creativity, character development, substance, or chemistry between the actors. From the start, without reading any reviews or anything, I had so much hope because it had all of the makings of a great show, at least with respect to the premise of the story, set design, lighting, etc. and fell short of every expectation. Now that I have finished, I can say I regret watching something that was chess-related and have no idea what all these 5* reviews and ravings are about, unless there was something I missed in those 7 hours I wasted which couldn't have been summed up in a 30m episode.
