I am obsessed with this musical, and I normally hate movie musicals but this didn't disappoint. I was initially skeptical about the length but everything feels there for a reason, it feels perfect. This movie has some lovely nods and references that don't feel forced. Also I love how this movie leaves some new things for even the biggest fans. I know act 1 pretty much off by heart and this movie gives us some fun new surprises even if you know it without taking away from what was already there. Overall excellent

I’m a huge fan of Beetlejuice, including both the first film and the musical so this review is coming from someone who was excited for this film. I think the film was a lot of fun, and it was very bizarre to say the least. It’s an interesting and entertaining watch but be warned, it does stray a little from the original in terms of just… the general vibe and the stuff that happens I guess (without spoiling anything). They could’ve changed Lydia’s outfit to fit with her age but I actually find it quite sweet she’s stuck with that style for all these years. I’d definitely say Michael Keaton hasn’t lost his ability to play Beetlejuice at all, it was as if nothing changed. Jenna Ortega also did a great job as Lydia’s daughter. I think the story could’ve been a bit more serious at times as it is extremely comedy oriented for a lot of it, but overall it’s a fun watch! I wouldn’t say it’s as good as the original but the original is quite hard to live up to.
