I honestly couldn't even finish the first episode.
I had somehow missed all the bad reviews and thought, Oh an adult themed show about Velma sounds cool.
I was really disappointed in the writing quality and over-sexualization of the cast.
Here we are dealing with high schoolers and the first scene is a gratuitous shower scene. Not only that, but they leaned into it and made it meta, in a way that proved that the shower scene did nothing for the plot and wasn't necessary by any means whatsoever.
And beyond that, every single joke feel completely and utterly flat to me.
The major plot point of the episode forcing Velma to actually solve the murder was also really contrived and forced.
Take the Lesbian detectives, let them call themselves dumb and force a high school student to solve the crime or send them to jail for a crime everyone knows that they didn't commit.
The people watching this are adults, why not make it at least a little smart, and give the plot some sense of immersion and realism.
I'm not going to get drawn into a story when the plot sounds like it was written by a 10 year old child, with adult themes smeared on top, like it somehow fixes the problems.
The sickle cell joke didn't help my feelings, that was so awful.
I will not finish the first episode, and I have no interest in the rest of the series.
