I can't really understand why this book has such high reviews. It is a very interesting premise but executed in a super slow, repetitive, and boring way. It seems like the author was trying to add length to the book for some reason, which is a shame because without the fluff this book would be a 10/10. The very beginning and the last third or so of the book are when things actually happen at a good pace and those parts are riveting. Otherwise this is slow-paced vanilla romantacy, not so much fantasy, so if you are looking for good fantasy I would skip this title. I am a huge fan of ACOTAR, TOG, Crescent City, Fourth Wing, and Lightlark for reference - this just fell flat in comparison.
