Another action-packed Marvel comics film directed by Ryan Coogler hits theatres. This time around, we encounter a lot of familiar faces, but the audience will also be pleased to meet a few new ones.
In order to demonstrate that they are still able to maintain their ground and that Wakanda still has a defender to look up to when Namor (the feather serpent God, also known as "Ku-kulkan") attacks the Wakandan kingdom and the queen, Shuri leaps back into her shoes. A young teen girl also known as Iron Heart, who is significantly more unusual than others her age and equally brilliant and charming, accompanies Black Panther on the quest. With its incredible visual effects, diverse cast, and humour about what a family is and how a King's Counsel should be, this movie serves as a wonderful tribute to Sir Chadwick Boseman and a great deal of amusement.
In addition, the movie features a number of unexpected plot turns. All of the personalities have been used by Ryan effectively and to great effect. Namor is the only character who poses a conundrum for the audience. You cannot foresee how or what his play will be. But after a few scenes, it was clear which side each character was supporting.
This movie is fairly long, as one would expect from a Marvel enthusiast. The movie has a few intense and dark moments, but the mesmerising action scenes captivates the audience's interest and keeps them on the edge of their seats right up until the very end. All the characters gave heartfelt performances, notwithstanding a few minor flubs. Definitely worth the time investment.
