The whole show is just Mindy Kaling trying to be funny, and say whatever she wants. She named it ‘Velma’ purely to get green lit. The show is sexist, and it attacks heterosexual men throughout show. The tone, and attitude is disgusting to me; considering this show was aimed to being accepting of EVERYONE. It betrays heterosexual men as “serial killers,” and the one character that’s a Caucasian heterosexual male is constantly being berated and bashed. Calling him an “idiot” along with other offensive names just because of his skin color and sexuality. “Skin color and sexuality” are the very things people criticized other individuals for about the main character Velma. Individuals had claimed other people had to be accepting of the new Velma’s sexuality and skin tone. I agreed with that, but changing everything about the character doesn’t make good story telling. By doing so changing those features changes character development, and changes in character development changes the character completely. In conclusion, I see this show as nothing but hypocritical.
