A gorgeous, emotive, and romantic portrait of Maurice Ravel. I wasn't much into orchestral music at the time I saw it in high school, but watching it later had a profound effect on me. A lot of his musical motifs and ideas are still with me today - as a result of such excellent film-work by Larry Weinstein, I still look for these themes and vocabulary in other composers today.
I saw the movie again in the 90's, and videotaped it when it was aired on "Vision" TV. I dread to think of the condition of my VHS tape if I ever unearth it! I really believe this documentary should be made easily available today in all languages. It is sorely missed, and I would love to watch it again....
