I can’t believe the person who wrote the Furies of Calderon is the same person who wrote the Dresden Files and the Cinder Spires series. These books are full of humour, excellent character development, real emotional highs and compelling reading. I found the Furies introduction clunky and the characters acting strangely with little conviction. I really wanted to love this book but found it a chore to finish. I have not read any other books of the series so cannot comment. I will always buy Jim Butchers books because he has set such a high standard of entertainment with his writing but this was the one that got away.
