The one star reviews are very much justified. If I could give less than one star I would. My husband and I went to see Mellencamp in Cleveland last May and after really looking forward to it were very disappointed. After at least a 30 minute opening of multiple OLD black and white film clips from the 1940’s and 1950’s, we were bored and irritated. No context was ever given for how these old movie clips related to Mellencamp or the concert. (Maybe we were too dumb to get it). His concert was just as bad. He sang very few of his most popular songs (no Authority Song or I Need A Lover), sang a lackluster acoustic version of Jack and Diane, and played too much of his new stuff which wasn’t what we came to hear. Add to that all the boring elitist stories he told - like he was preaching to us on how to be real humans - and it made for a miserable boring time… one of the worst concerts we’ve been to. Bottom line, don’t waste your time or money to see him.
