I adore this movie. I have always wished I was able to go back to a certain time in the past, a bygone era - But not just any time period, one that seemingly had so many "greats".. Some time periods had almost an abundance of talented people. Whether it be philosophers, sculptors, architects or artists and writers as this beautiful movie brings you to. The most recent period in time that was the host of the last truly original artists, play writes, authors and poets..
Midnight In Paris takes you back to the Paris that was before all the tourists and all the modernity. The one many of us have spent fantasizing about, dreaming about. .. This is a beautiful film. One for the romantics, the creatives and the artist's. Or better yet, for the person who is all three at heart. It's like the director invaded my dreams, lol. At the end of the journey through time, athe main character is forced to take off the rose-coloured glasses he didn't know that he was wearing and sees the past era he had been obsessing about is filled with just as many flaws, disappointments and lackluster as the 21st century that he is from . Yes the Golden Age was amazing, beautiful and almost magical.
Many of us history lovers are guilty of romanticizing the past, sometimes to a fault. We fail to realise the things, opportunities and advantages that we have been raised and grown up with in our current time that we have become so used to it .. That we often end up taking it. People in every era of time have always thought of the past and "the good old days"
