The guys at Remedy genuinely pour their hearts into this game, and you can tell from the get-go. Alan Wake 2 is a fantastic continuation of the Alan Wake series, introducing rich and complex new characters to the beautiful (but deadly?) destination we all know from the game's first installment. You will instantly feel familiar with it and fall in love again with this tiny town and its bizarre citizens, thanks to the ultra-realistic textures and the many details they added. The FBI agent trying to solve the latest murder, a hideous cult of murderers called The Tree Cult, and Wake’s disappearance 13 years ago is very well thought out, and she can use skills like intuition to infer things that help you move along the game. In addition, in the introduction of “The Overlap,” you move between two realities (the real world and a darker place). This is very fun and also makes the game a little bit more challenging and immersive. I haven't finished the game yet but I can already tell you it's well worth it IF you liked the first one and IF you're open to rediscovering this story with a set of new characters and mechanics that expand the story in an original way.
