I was excited to watch to this movie. However, I unfortunately can’t get those two hours of my life back. While the visuals are great, I couldn’t help but wonder “What film is this trying to be?” It felt like an outer space Mad Max meets the ugly 80’s Dune, meets the Witcher, meets Gladiator and then meets Bladerunner. Throw in some obnoxious space Nazi’s with a few tricks of the Matrix and John Carter! We also have a character straight out of Sons of Anarchy - Charlie Hunum with an Irish accent. What kind of a “garage sale” movie is this? One that only has a hint of creativity with Sofia Boutella’s character and Sir Anthony Hopkins voices a cool robot. Zack Snyder loves a long and laborious story—he misses some great chances to make something new and refreshing, yet misses the mark by trying to be too many genres all at once.
