Leslie Headland's "The Acolyte" is one of the best things for Star Wars in millenia. I believe it is the second best show after Andor.
In Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 (2004), Darth Traya (Kreia) demonstrates that both the Jedi and the Sith have many flaws. This theme (which inspired Leslie), is interwoven into the show and is a well-needed addition to Star Wars canon. It is understandable that many reviewers who dislike the show have a weak background in Star Wars lore; however, this should absolutely not impact the show's reputation. The show does an excellent job at portraying the fallibility of the Jedi.
The show introduces that Jedi their own personalities, which is original and refreshing! For most of canon, Jedi show no signs of weakness, which is a misrepresentation of their human nature and individuality.
Unlike Ahsoka, this show does not rely on nostalgia for viewership but rather original, quality content. The show moves gently when character-development is needed but swiftly in times of action. Episodes 5 and 6 were pure gold.
I can hardly wait to watch each episode when they are released and truly hope for a Season 2.
