Growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah and not being a Mormon, the book was interesting look into a member’s perspective.
It shows the pain , hypocrisy,
And double standards the church imposes on their women and the damaging ideology it painfully protects - at all costs . Non Mormons are shunned , looked down upon and harshly judged . It was clear this same attitude , oppression and manipulation continues even within the sacred walls of “the church “ and its value or women .
This is an informative read for those unfamiliar with the LDS church but does not really touch on the darker , insidious practices and beliefs.
It shows the pain and struggle so many women in this church feel while failing to really touch on deep aspects of the writers life .
The book lacks a true cadence and depth but gives overall factual insights into challenges, mind numbing and heart breaking struggles to be a woman in the LDS church.
