At first, I was really excited to finally watch a romcom/mystery with an American girl going to Korea. This show started out really interesting, but it wasn’t what I was expecting at all. As others have said, there was LGBTQ everywhere, so much that it wasn’t even fun or realistic. The way it was portrayed in this show was very unnatural and forced, literally everyone was gay. Because it was so forced, it really made the show unenjoyable and random. Also, this would have been more appropriate and realistic if this were a group of college-age people, instead of high-schoolers bunking together in dorm rooms. The Korean culture was not really captured at all, aside from a few K-pop songs and a few Asian actors. I was utterly disappointed with the whole thing. I had hoped for an “American K-Drama” with the two cultures blending, but this wasn’t that at all. I was also excited initially because this was supposed to be part of the “To All The Boys” series and I feel like it doesn’t belong anywhere remotely related to that series whatsoever. This would have been perfect if they had blended “To All The Boys” with K’Drama, but that just didn’t happen and it was an utter failure all around. If I had written XO Kitty, it would have looked much different and actually added value and warm feelings to the world instead of this failed agenda attempt.
