i usually think of myself as a fairly discerning film watcher and this past 12 months i have watched most of the films that have made the end of the year lists through 2018 to present time ( as many publications have already produced :"best so far" lists) and while I am a big admirer -if not a fan- of the 4 primary actors in this film, I have never been as impressed as critics ( and some of the audience reviewers ) with Charlie Kaufman. This film did little to change my view of Kaufman scripted ( or directed) films but to be fair I thought the acting was very good and the dinner scene was clever and entertaining. So if your Kaufman fan then go ahead but if you have not really loved his other films then I suspect you will find yourself ,like me, and that is hoping you never get stuck at a dinner party with people who like his films.
