It was okay. Enjoyable. But not the best film of the year. Florence Pugh showed the widest range of character, emotions and growth. Everyone else just acted as ciphers, with no, or very little, character development. She was naughty, fun, proud, jealous, clever, repentant. Worth watching just for her stand out performance. Worst of the film were the men. On the whole dreadful. I haven’t read the book so this is no reflection on that. This is just my response, now, to the film which I have just seen at Cottage Road cinema Leeds.
