The action is constantly interesting, the dialogue is terrific, there is a balance between suspense, action, drama and comedy. There are so many memorable characters. The acting is sensationally good. But what lifts the show above many others that have many of these qualities is the development of the central character. Jimmy McGill is charming, clever, generous and funny, a devoted friend and lover, and for a time a devoted brother.Yet he destroys his brother twice over, and not in a fit of rage but in carefully calculated ways. The first time, he is acting to help Kim; the second time, the malice is gratuitous. I would hesitate to say that it's better than Breaking Bad - I've never enjoyed any show as much as BB - but it's certainly in the same league.
