this is a breakthrough landmark in feature animation. the film is something original, and brand new. it flipped the whole teen comedy genre upside down with a mature cgi animation. Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken, is a masterpiece, a team of rookie filmmakers, creating something from the ground up, and influenced by many classic teen comedies like Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, The Princess Diaries, 10 Things I Hate About You, The New Guy, and many others, with an original story and groundbreaking animation. Dreamworks Pictures (the studio that made American Beauty, Eurotrip, The Last Kiss and other classic films) & Mike Mitchell Productions (The Barbarian & The Troll), have created an original cgi Animated movie, that takes the cgi animated film to a more mature level, with elements of the high school teen comedies of the 2000s, and your typical cgi animated film ever made. Kirk DeMicco, Faryn Pearl, & producer Kelly Cooney Cilella, along with executive producer Mike Mitchell (Sky High) have reinvented the animated feature film with a original story about a young blue skinned teenage girl who discovers that her family came from legendary royal kraken warriors, and have to protect her world when a regina george typed character/evil mermaid threatened Ruby's world. the film's songs including Freya Ridings's rise (the film's theme) was a fresh take on the soundtrack, and the innovative score by newcomer Steph Economou has mixed Indie Pop & Dream Pop into a entirely new sound in film score. Lana Condor's performance as Ruby Gillman was breakout superstar of the previous year. the film will likely influenced future filmmakers and future feature animation films for years to come.
