Mortal combat movies will always be bad and this is no acception.
Now don't get me wrong, it was the best movie so far, and it's bad in an acceptable way so that I could find myself watching again, but for an adult fighting/gore film, it sure plays out like it's for children.
The characters are all super one dimensional and stick to their character traits perfectly predictably. It's so predictable it reminds me of an early 90s power rangers cartoon where you know the good guy is going to get the special power up to win the day. It's not helped by the fact that only some of the actors do a great job at playing their roles. But that's ok because you don't watch for that you watch for the fights right? Well you'll be disappointed.
After the new watch wonder fades, and you know what gory fatalities are coming, you realize watching for the fights is actually really disappointing. The fights are terrible, slow, and poorly choreographed. I never got a satisfying 1v1 fight moment and it's a mortal combat movie. I'm not expecting a "the raid" level of combat but at least give me some good 1v1s. I hope they improve this in the future.
I could to on but I won't, it's a meh movie that is satisfying only for the fact that mortal combat movies suck, but they almost suck in that good way. Also kano funny. 10/10
